The role As a Senior Engineer – Satellite Communications and Radio Frequency Systems, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team working on our customers current and future satellite systems.
Day-to-day, you’ll act as a source of technical expertise in Radio Frequency (RF) communications systems, antenna systems and associated equipment as well as:
Providing technical expertise in support of development, upgrades and maintenance of satellite communications ground station systems Providing support to military systems build and integration activities such as equipment rack builds, portable communications systems, installed systems, vehicle-mounted solutions Supporting with related sub-systems such as cryptographic equipment, network solutions, IT system configuration and electro-mechanical systems Supporting and working alongside the systems engineering capability Working closely with customers to understand their mission and needs and work with the whole team to devise suitable solutions that ensure our customers missions are a success
This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and is based on site at Ashchurch, Twekesbury and provides hybrid working arrangments with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Engineer – Satellite Communications and Radio Frequency Systems
Experience in a communications systems engineering in a combination of RF comms and antenna systems from VLF up to UHF, specifically in a role involving design, development and testing Experience in Satellite Communications (SATCOM) system engineering from L-band through EHF A proven ability to work in the agile innovation space, whilst also adhering to a robust engineering policy that assures quality and safety of engineering outputs Ability to distil innovative thinking and customer/supplier collaboration into comprehensive feasibility studies, blending deep technical content with explanations/simplifications for non-technical audiences at all levels of seniority Excellent background skills in IT for the purposes of design and development as well as corporate computing for communication and document generation Experience in proposing innovative solutions; the courage to challenge design decisions and suggest alternative approaches
Qualifications for the Senior Engineer – Satellite Communications and Radio Frequency Systems
Must hold a relevant engineering degree or alternatively HNC/HND qualification Chartered Engineer (CEng) status registered with the Engineering Council in an appropriate engineering discipline or a demonstrable plan to achieve CEng within the near future Full UK driving licence
Security Clearance The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Enhanced Developed Vetting (EDV) security clearance for this role.
