As part of the FICO Xpress Optimization development team, you’ll contribute to one of the world most advanced mathematical optimization systems. In this senior developer role, you will help drive innovation in the Xpress Solver, focusing on Mixed-Integer Programming (MIP), Linear Programming (LP), and related optimization classes. You'll work with an internationally distributed team of experts dedicated to keeping Xpress Solver at the forefront of optimization technology. Your responsibility will be to develop and enhance state-of-the-art algorithms for solving the most challenging optimization problems, including problems from some of the largest and best-known companies worldwide. This position gives you the opportunity to actively research mathematical optimization methods. Given the collaborative, remote nature of the team, strong communication skills and proficiency with online collaboration tools are essential. What You’ll Contribute Research, design, implement, and benchmark cutting-edge algorithms for solving MIPs and other optimization problems within the FICO Xpress Solver. Develop tests to validate the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of new algorithms and features. Identify and resolve software bugs to ensure the solver's stability and robustness. Collaborate with other teams, including modeling, presales, and customer support, to improve our development tools and integration capabilities. Present your work and other new features at scientific conferences and engage with our users. What We’re Seeking PhD in Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong focus on mathematical optimization—or equivalent experience. Extensive experience with C/C++ development. The Xpress Solver is entirely written in C. Deep understanding of MIP solvers such as FICO Xpress, Gurobi, IBM Cplex, or SCIP. Experience with Python, Java, or C# is beneficial. Familiarity with cloud computing and containerization (Docker) is a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to work efficiently in a distributed team environment.
