The role As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Major Infrastructure Projects business unit has been set up to establish and maintain a strategic infrastructure plan for the Devonport site through to at least 2050 and to safely and effectively deliver the ‘major’ capital works projects that result from the plan. Day-to-day, you’ll be supporting the engineering capability of the new systems through the design lifecycle in accordance with the design process:
Applying systems engineering approach to develop and validate design requirements Ensuring compliance with client specifications, technical regulations and standards Collaboration across engineering functions and stakeholders to integrate designs within the overall facility layout and manage interfaces Technical management of specialist sub-contract designers Maintaining the engineering configuration of the design intent (change control)
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements (provisionally 2 days in the office/onsite per month with the remainder of your time working from home). Experience of the Senior Mechanical Engineer
Defence, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Building Services or other highly regulated industry Mechanical and/or structural engineering background Mechanical engineering principles for the design of water services, industrial gas, HVAC systems Structural engineering principles for the design of large steel fabrications / modular build Regulations, legislation and standards that are applicable to mechanical system design and construction Computer literate (preferably MS Office and Engineering Document Management Systems)Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Engineer
A degree, degree apprentice or demonstrable time served in an appropriate engineering discipline. Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council (or actively working towards).Security Clearance The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
