Senior Project Adminstrator WR)

Job at University of Southampton in Southampton, Southampton, SO17

University of Southampton, School of Geography & Environmental Science (SoGES).

The School of Geography and Environmental Science is seeking to appoint a Senior Project Administrator. This position will support the UKRI funded project ‘Food Aid Inequality Rectified (FAIR-food) to Prof. Dianna Smith and colleagues. FAIR-food is a UKRI funded project with the overall aim of supporting change in the food aid system, specifically food pantries in Southampton, the New Forest and the Isle of Wight. Working with local government, third sector partners and communities, we aim to deliver positive adaptations in the food aid system that can be applied elsewhere. One key aim/change is the development of an online platform supporting improved collaboration between food supplies and the aid providers, to prioritise healthier food in pantries. We will also work with communities to ask what changes they want to see in food pantries, to develop smaller, deployable interventions.

The purpose of the Senior Project Administrator is to ensure the provision of comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support to the research project and its team. The team includes Jenny Baverstock, Mary Barker, Nisreen Alwan, Behzad Hezarkhani, Craig Hutton, Janis Baird, Pete Shaw from the University of Southampton, Claire Thompson (University of Hertfordshire) and colleagues representing local governments and food aid across the study area. There will also be three postdoctoral members of staff supporting specific areas of work. It is also to apply judgement and provide detailed, specialist advice and guidance as required.

To organise internal and external events, ensuring all activities run efficiently by co-ordinating diaries, booking venues, and supplying relevant information. To support internal and external project communications. To undertake financial and research administration processes and provide support to management with budget monitoring processes.   To provide secretarial/P.A. services to the project lead where required, including co-ordination of diaries, arranging and servicing meetings, filtering problems and enquiries, drafting and issue of documentation, organisation of events and attending meetings on behalf of the manager as appropriate.

The post is tenable at 0.4 FTE from 1st June 2025 and is fixed term for 3 years.

The School of Geography and Environmental Science is committed to fostering a culture of equality, diversity and inclusion.
