British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technologist – Applied Product Science in Southampton

 

 What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?  

The Senior Technologist role will focus on the management and execution of assigned scientific studies across a range of product categories within the New Categories R&D function, to support the product improvement of current products and the development of the R&D pipeline.

 

What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization? 

This role will utilise knowledge of New Categories product testing methodologies and broad scientific principles to assist a team of scientists in designing and efficiently completing product science research to meet the needs of the wider R&D community.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

To have accountability for the delivery of assigned activities across a range of projects and activities within the New Categories Applied Product Science teamTo hold laboratory expertise in operating the required machinery/testing capabilities in order to perform assigned tasks within the required time framesTo have awareness of standard methodologies and compliance using technical knowledge and broad scientific principles to ensure effective delivery of an appropriate given taskTo assist and work closely with the more senior scientist roles within the team with a focus on upskilling personal breadth and depth of technical knowledge of our new category productsTo understand testing activities, methodologies, and equipment capabilities to carry out assigned duties to fulfil project needs

 

What are we looking for? 

·        Ability to deliver against a portfolio of tasks within defined timescales and to work in a laboratory environment

·        Self-motivated, proactive with good time management and organizational skills, strong communication skills, collaboration with internal and external contacts

·        Data handling and interpretation

·        Degree in Science, Technology, preferably Chemistry

·        Time served apprenticeship background as a laboratory technician / HNC-level qualification in a relevant field
