Site Reliability Engineering Lead: Drive Innovation and Reliability in Intellectual Property Technology

Are you a seasoned Site Reliability Engineer with a passion for building robust, scalable, and resilient cloud systems? Do you have a knack for leading and mentoring talented engineers while driving operational excellence? This Site Reliability Engineering Lead opportunity within the LexisNexis Intellectual Property (IP) division presents a compelling chance to shape the future of critical IP solutions.

The LexisNexis IP team is at the forefront of providing essential international patent content and advanced analytical tools. By delivering crucial data that powers their search and analytics applications, they empower clients with actionable insights for vital business decisions. This is a chance to join a dynamic, diverse, and collaborative environment where your contributions are valued and your professional growth is actively encouraged.

What This Opportunity Offers You:

  • Leadership and Impact: Take the helm of a small, high-performing team of senior engineers. You'll be instrumental in shaping the reliability, scalability, and resilience of mission-critical systems, directly influencing business outcomes.
  • Technical Breadth: Engage with a wide array of cutting-edge cloud platforms and technologies, including Azure and AWS (EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Azure VMs, Functions), infrastructure as code with Terraform, containerization via Docker and Kubernetes, and advanced monitoring tools like Datadog and Splunk.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Drive initiatives in incident response, disaster recovery, automation, and FinOps cost optimization. Your efforts will directly contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with central SRE organizations, IP product, development, architecture, and security teams. This collaborative environment fosters knowledge sharing and best practice implementation.
  • Career Development: This is a junior management-level role that offers a clear path for career advancement, with opportunities for mentoring, leading technical direction, and influencing strategic decisions.
  • Work-Life Balance and Benefits: LexisNexis IP is committed to fostering a healthy work/life balance. The role comes with appealing benefits including flexible working hours, comprehensive well-being initiatives, study assistance, sabbaticals, and a generous vacation entitlement.

Key Considerations for Aspiring Candidates:

  • Leadership Experience: While technical depth is crucial, this role emphasizes leadership. Demonstrating experience in mentoring, guiding technical teams, and setting/achieving business objectives through indirect leadership will be highly valued.
  • Technical Proficiency: A strong command of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), infrastructure as code, containerization, monitoring, and scripting is essential. Familiarity with programming languages like Java, .NET/C#, and SQL, as well as systems and networking fundamentals, will be critical for success.
  • Problem-Solving Acumen: You'll be expected to lead teams in identifying, researching, and resolving complex technical issues. The ability to translate findings into actionable solutions and manage risks is paramount.
  • Customer Focus: Previous experience in customer-facing roles or managing customer support escalations is beneficial, as you'll be acting as an escalation point for critical issues.
  • Agile and DevOps Mindset: A solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, GitOps/DevOps practices, and IT service management frameworks is expected.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated SRE Lead to make a significant impact within a leading intellectual property solutions provider. If you're driven by a desire to build highly reliable systems, lead talented individuals, and contribute to a culture of innovation, we encourage you to explore this role further.
