We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.  Energised Futures is a new research and innovation venture within Centrica, established to systematically explore the possible and catalyze Centrica purpose of energising a fairer, greener future. To do this, we’re building a dynamic and diverse team of researchers to perform cutting edge innovation across its core themes of flexibility, automation, connectivity, market, engagement, and access, and pairing this with a strong support team to publish and promote research activities, engage with other research institutions and energy innovators, and develop a portfolio of activities. Based in Antwerp and London, recent investment in the team means we’ll be growing in scope, activities, size, and impact, giving newcomers to the team the chance to play a pivotal role in shaping the team and its processes, as it in turn shapes the roadmap for the wider organisation and industry. We have a great opportunity for a Strategic Energy Innovation Analyst. The role will support the Energised Futures team by closely monitoring the evolving energy innovation landscape, identifying emerging market trends, gaps, and opportunities to drive meaningful progress. A key responsibility will be the development of novel business models that effectively capitalise on these insights, contributing to the team strategic direction. In addition, the role will involve actively sourcing relevant grants, calls for proposals, and conferences to support both current and future initiatives. By aligning these activities with the team wider research strategy, the position will play a vital role in advancing impactful and sustainable energy solutions. About the role: Monitor and analyse energy innovation trends, market shifts, and emerging technologies Support strategy development and execution by providing research, analysis, and recommendations on high-priority projects Develop and propose novel business models to commercialise energy innovation opportunities Identify and source funding and collaboration opportunities from regional, national, and European research grants and programmes Build and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, industry experts, academic institutions, and innovation networks Support market-shaping efforts by analysing and influencing energy policy, energy market regulatory frameworks, and market structures Present innovation insights and opportunities to the team, ensuring the organisation remains at the forefront of energy innovation Here's what we're looking for: A proactive and innovative thinker with a strong background in energy innovation and market analysis, who excels as an internal consultant to drive strategic initiatives Some proven professional experience in the energy sector, with a focus on energy innovation, technology development, or energy strategy Experience leading or contributing to strategic initiatives, with a proven track record of driving projects to successful outcome Familiarity with collaborating across internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to achieve common goals Proficient in navigating research funding mechanisms, with hands-on experience in identifying and securing grants and subsidies, particularly within regional, national, and European funding programs (e.g., Horizon Europe, EU Innovation Fund). Experience in developing innovative business models, with a strong foundation in business case creation, value proposition design, and go-to-market strategies Knowledge of energy policy, regulatory frameworks, and market structures at local, national, and international levels is a bonus If you think you’d be a good fit but don’t meet all of the above point, then we’d still love to hear from you!
