The job itself

Sutton upon Derwent Church of England Primary School is a loving school family. We are federated with Bugthorpe Church of England Primary School and have staff that work across both sites. We share our Executive Headteacher, SENCo, Business Manager, ELSA and Environmental Tutor (Gardening and Forest Schools Teacher). We work together as one to deliver a creative curriculum that inspires our pupils to 'follow their pathways and grow with confidence'.

Both schools received a 'Good' Ofsted Inspection in 2022. Sutton upon Derwent received a very positive SIAMS inspection report in February 2025. Both documents are available to read on our school website.

Our Federation: follow a shared curriculum, have staff meetings together on Microsoft Teams to share planning, resources and best practice, work in Subject Leadership Teams together across the Federation, share a school minibus which we utilise for educational visits and to visit each other's class in the sister school and share policies and procedures. All of this collaborative work enables both pupils and adults to flourish in our small rural schools.

Our Class system: Class 1 (Nursery and Reception) Class 2 (Years 1 and 2) Class 3 (Years 3 and 4) and Class 4 (Years 5 and 6).

This job is to be a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, supporting a child with additional needs in Class 4.

We are delighted to offer the following role in our school for September 2025.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate General Teaching Assistant, to support a child with additional needs, following the direction of the Class Teacher.

This will be based at Sutton upon Derwent CE Primary School on a

temporary contract, with a named child. They are scheduled to leave us in July 2026. This will be for 3.5 days per week, term time only. Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays 9am-12pm and 1pm-3.30pm and Thursday 1pm-3.30pm.
