Teaching Fellow in English Language

The School of Law and Social Sciences is an ambitious, expanding, multidisciplinary school and has an established reputation for excellence in teaching and research. 

We are looking to appoint an individual who can make a significant contribution to teaching in English language. The appointed candidate will have the opportunity to teach within the department as well as contributing more widely to its activities.

You should have a completed doctorate in a relevant discipline, and a track record of teaching on undergraduate English programmes with the ability to teach across a range of modules in English language and linguistics. In the first instance we are looking for a colleague who can teach on undergraduate modules on the history of English and on discourse analysis.

The salary being offered for this role is below the minimum threshold for required to sponsor new applicants to the Skilled Worker route. However, Aston University may be able to sponsor the successful candidate if they: 

•    Are under 26 years old

•    Hold a PhD that is relevant to the role

•    Have held a Student or Graduate visa in the last 2 years

•    Are already in the UK with a Tier 2 or Skilled Worker visa issued before April 4th 2024
