Currently under construction in North Yorkshire, UK, The Woodsmith Project comprises a deep mine along with transportation, processing, and shipping infrastructure. The primary aim of this project is to extract polyhalite, which is a naturally occurring mineral rich in four out of the six essential nutrients required for plant growth, namely potassium, sulphur, magnesium, and calcium.
The extracted polyhalite will be converted into a multi-nutrient fertilizer that is low in chloride and suitable for organic use. This fertilizer will help in increasing crop yields and promoting sustainable farming practices.
