The Opportunity: Aircraft Duty Engineer (Heathrow Shorthaul)

British Airways is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our esteemed engineering team as an Aircraft Duty Engineer. Based at our busy Heathrow Shorthaul operations (Terminals and Hangars), you will be instrumental in inspiring and guiding a talented team of licenced engineers, technicians, and mechanics. Your leadership will be crucial in overseeing the seamless operation of over 300 departures daily, upholding the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and innovation for one of the world's most recognised airlines.

This pivotal role is divided into two key areas:

• Resource Management: You will be responsible for ensuring the operation meets defined production targets, aligning with the maintenance plan and aircraft compliance. This involves providing effective leadership, setting clear expectations, and managing the day-to-day allocation of tasks. A key aspect will be championing high-quality standards, monitoring trends, and driving continuous improvement to implement lasting solutions. You will also be the central point of contact for communication regarding aircraft status, requirements between Planning and Production, and liaison with flight crew and planning teams.
• Technical Expertise: As the primary technical point of contact for operational colleagues, you will provide essential support and feedback to business stakeholders. You will engage directly with engineers to resolve defects, and your ability to interpret complex technical documents and new technologies will be vital in supporting engineers with challenging technical issues.

What You Will Bring:

• A CAA Part-66 B licence with demonstrable experience in certifying aircraft maintenance.
• Applicants with any commercial type ratings are welcome; specific BA type rating training will be provided. A current BA type rating is desirable.
• A strong combination of technical experience and proven leadership behaviours.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to act on initiative, making timely and informed decisions.
• The capability to synthesise and understand complex information, coupled with the ability to interpret technical publications for fact-based decision-making in a demanding environment.
