Apprentice Assistant Zookeeper Join the Team at Sewerby Zoo!

Are you enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate about animal care? We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our friendly team at Sewerby Zoo as an Apprentice Assistant Zookeeper.

This exciting opportunity offers hands-on experience alongside the chance to gain a Level 2 qualification in Animal Care and Welfare, delivered through weekly day-release training at Bishop Burton College.

As part of the role, you will support the Head Zookeeper and wider team in:

Maintaining high standards of animal welfare and husbandryAssisting with daily care routines and enclosure maintenanceEnsuring cleanliness and hygiene throughout the zooSupporting compliance with zoo licensing regulations

We are seeking applicants who:

Have a genuine interest in zookeeping and wildlifeCan work well as part of a supportive teamCommunicate effectively and show a willingness to learnAre committed to both practical and academic learning

Full on-the-job training will be provided, along with college-based learning one day per week.
