A Development manager position is responsible for accomplishing results through leading/mentoring the team, and if necessary, assist in hands on development/bug fixes of our Java application. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications development through programming activities.
Responsibilities
Team development. Mentoring team members to develop their full potentialDevelop, own, improve processes within the teamEnsure the latest Citi technology standards are adhered too within the teamWork with product manager to set prioritiesParticipate in design sessions with the development team, both employees and vendors located across multiple locationsEvaluate and adopt new development tools, libraries, and approaches to improve delivery qualityPerform peer code review of project codebase changesCommunicate with stakeholders to help shape requirements and design decisionsEnsure that best practices and standards are followed as part of the application development life cycle.Participation in SDLC, Agile SCRUMAnalyze existing software systems and propose solutions to improve overall design, architecture, and efficiencyEnsure applications meet performance and scalability requirementsStay up to date with the latest technologies and industry trendsMandatory Skills
Experience as Development manager. Managing teams across multiple time zones, with multiple skill sets.Experience as Java software developer. This will be tested at interviewMessaging Systems experience (Kafka, Nats, Solace, TiBCo, RabbitMQ etc.)Experience working with SQL and databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Hadoop etc.Agile SCRUMExperience with Java Multithreading/Concurrency, Web Services (SOAP/REST), DB2 Database, JMS, MQ, NDM, SFTPAcquainted with industry best practices and standards, software development tools and techniquesExperience in developing distributed systemsExperience in the use of Containers (Docker, Kubernetes)Nice to have skills
Experience in Low Latency Software DevelopmentExperience in C++Experience in C#Experience in SBEAbility to work with distributed teams across multiple time zonesEducation:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or similar discipline------------------------------------------------------
