Key Responsibilities & Advantages
As an Associate R&D Mechanical Engineer on the CTG team, you will be instrumental in:
- Driving Product Innovation: Engage in the setup of customization designs for a diverse range of completion tools, directly influencing product development.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and provide essential technical expertise to manufacturing and field representatives, ensuring seamless operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and implement design and process improvements, contributing to enhanced efficiency and product performance.
- Engineering Excellence: Produce precise engineering drawings incorporating geometric tolerancing, and utilize 3D CAD modeling for innovative design solutions.
- Applying Engineering Principles: Conduct vital engineering calculations, including pressure vessel theory, tensile loads, thread shear, and tolerance stack-ups, ensuring the integrity and safety of our products.
- Translating Requirements: Interpret functional specifications and deliver robust technical outputs that meet stringent industry standards.
- Structural Analysis: Review tools to identify critical load paths related to their functionality, ensuring reliability in demanding environments.
- Project Management: Effectively manage a varied workload, encompassing multiple short to mid-term projects, demonstrating your organizational and time management skills.
What We're Looking For (Required Skills):
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:
- Proficiency in producing engineering drawings and applying geometric tolerancing.
- Strong 3D CAD modeling skills.
- Solid understanding of engineering calculations related to pressure vessel theory, tensile loads, thread shear, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Ability to interpret functional specifications and deliver technical outputs.
- Experience in reviewing tools and identifying load paths.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a dynamic workload with multiple projects.
Desired Skills & Experience (Preferred):
While not essential, the following would be advantageous:
- Experience as a SolidWorks user.
- Familiarity with Mathcad.
- Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Prior experience working with downhole completion tools.
- Knowledge of international standards relevant to completion tools, such as API 19V and API 11D1.
