About Us
The Estates and Facilities Directorate at the University of East London (UEL) plays a critical role in supporting the university’s strategic objectives by delivering a range of essential services. These include strategic estate planning, campus facilities management and maintenance, security, sustainability initiatives, print services, capital investment, and space management. The directorate ensures that UEL’s physical infrastructure supports both the academic and operational needs of the university, maintaining a safe, functional, and sustainable environment across all campuses.
The Estates and Facilities team works closely with key Delivery Partners and professional services within UEL, including HR, Procurement, Finance, Strategic Development & Delivery, IT, and Health & Safety. This collaborative approach ensures that all estate-related services are aligned with the university’s wider goals, enabling effective decision-making and the running of the estate. Together, these partnerships support the ongoing enhancement of UEL’s estate, helping to provide a fit for the future environment for students, staff, and visitors.
About the Job
We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager (Space Management) to join the Estates and Facilities team at the University of East London on a 9-month maternity cover contract. This role is perfect for someone with experience in space planning, project coordination, and AutoCAD who wants to make a tangible impact on how we optimise and manage our university estate.
In this role, you’ll:
Assist in managing and optimising space across the university’s campuses.Conduct feasibility studies, test fits, and space utilisation assessments.Work with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective space planning.Support furniture selection, procurement, and installation in line with university standards.Provide AutoCAD support, maintain space plans, and conduct room surveys.Contribute to sustainability initiatives and health & safety compliance in space planning.This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in project and space management within a dynamic and supportive team.
About You
You’re a proactive and organised individual with a passion for optimising space and supporting project delivery. You have experience in space management, workplace strategy, or facilities planning, with strong AutoCAD skills and a keen eye for detail. You thrive on collaborating with different stakeholders, managing multiple tasks, and ensuring projects align with strategic goals.
