Are you looking for a role that offers development opportunities and the chance to make a real difference? We are delighted to be recruiting an Assistant Project Manager to join the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Coordinating Centre. This is an ideal opportunity for someone starting out in project management, with a passion for planning, organising  and making an impact.

Our research helps turn discoveries into new or improved treatments, diagnostics, medical technologies and services. It provides those working in the NHS, public health, global health and social care with the evidence they need to better support patients, the public and people who need care.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will support the development, planning and implementation of projects and initiatives within the Southampton Coordinating Centre and across the wider NIHR. Key tasks include:

Producing, updating and managing project documentation to ensure smooth delivery and decision-making.Assisting with clear and effective communications, such as reports, presentations and updates for key stakeholders.Coordinating and servicing meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes and following up on actions.Providing administrative support for projects, including monitoring of project plans and documentation, tracking deadlines and conducting background research.

This role will provide you with hands-on experience and exposure to project management tools and methods, offering a solid foundation for your career.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with a keen interest in project management who is committed to their development. Previous experience is not essential, but we want someone who brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and a proactive mindset. You’ll need:

Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage your workload.Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in everything you do.Great communication skills, enabling you to build relationships and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.A flexible and problem-solving attitude when approaching  tasks, with a willingness to learn and grow.
