As Assistant Technician, you will be part of the maintenance team working towards set production targets to ensure trains meet ever exacting and challenging standards and are delivered to customers on time.
In this role you will:
Service, maintain, repair and overhaul traction and rolling stock components to the designated maintenance exam standardCarry out cleaning and labouring duties for all areas of the workshop and vehiclesOperate fuel line and depot equipmentDrive and operate cranes and road vehicles if a valid license is heldEnsure all work is carried out to defined quality and safety standardsAssist with special projects and additional tasks specified by depot managementYou will have practical experience of maintenance within a busy and quality focused engineering environment. It would be preferable to hold certification or licences for depot equipment, but training can be provided if necessary.
It is desirable to have knowledge or experience of railway industry recognised standards, however this is not essential, and we would welcome applications from candidates with a background in other similar maintenance and repair environments.
Our depots operate 24/7 and you will work shifts, for which you will receive a shift allowance. You also need to live within 60 minutes’ travelling time of the depot or be prepared to re-locate so that you are if offered the role.
If you successfully pass all stages of the recruitment process, you will either be offered a role, if one is available, or placed into our talent pool, for a maximum time of 12 months. Once you have a place in the pool, you will not need to re-apply for the vacancy again for a whole 12 months. If a role becomes available during this time, we will pick up the phone to make you a job offer!
