British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a CMD Designer in London

 

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role? 

This position is within the New Categories Department and reports to the Head of CMD, within the Design organization led by the Group Head of Design.

The job holder will be part of a team collectively responsible for the design of devices and accessories and will be working closely within the team, and with brand, insights and R&D teams responsible for the delivery of new product development.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

Responsible for CMF output including design presentation, concept development, appearance model and prototypes, CMF and design verification.Deliver rich, upgraded aesthetics in concepts and designs through CMF leadership.Lead CMF development on multiple design projects concurrently, from concept development to final production, ensuring quality execution. Partner closely with product designers, engineers and suppliers on CMF, throughout the design process ensuring successful implementation. Develop a collaborative partnership approach with collaborators to flawlessly blend aesthetic and functional design considerations in support of the brand strategies and ensure this is maintained through production to launch. Develop and handle the CMF library and palette to communicate internally and externally with suppliers. Explore, research, analyse and deliver reports on key Design and CMF trends.

 

What are we looking for?

Experience Required

International experience with Trend and CMF design and development of modern digital and electronic products, and fully confident with the technologies and manufacturing processes which support them. Experience in all phases of the design process, from concept to manufacture through to launch. Experience in crafting and leading CMF design in manufacturingVisual Design experience, developing product graphics artwork, and creating and maintaining CMF spec documentation.  Must have strong project portfolio to demonstrate experience and design skills

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

Technical knowledge in plastics, metals, coatings, soft goodsExcellent collaboration skills with fellow designers and project teams, as well as demonstrating trend and CMF thought leadership towards key partners.

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

Bachelor’s degree qualification in a relevant design area, such as industrial design, and proven industry experience.

Beneficial

Experience in fast paced functional products - smart phone & portable devices Interest and experience in crafting for sustainability.Experience in 3D design tools like Solidworks, Alias, RhinoDesign award acknowledgement is plus
