Campus Internship: Sustainability Communications and Engagement Assistant

This role is open to penultimate year undergraduate student at the University of Leeds looking to take a year in industry as part of their degree only

This role will be based on the University campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Would you like to join a dynamic and committed team, and gain valuable experience by supporting the communications and engagement activities that drive sustainability within the University and the wider community?

Sustainability sits at the heart of the University’s strategy. With an ambitious Climate Plan and commitment to embed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across all that we do, this is an exciting opening to join the Sustainability Service. 

Through our strategic approach to sustainability, we draw on the diverse expertise of our community, requiring significant engagement and collaboration internally and externally, to facilitate behaviour and process change. We are looking for a student intern to join our team for up to 12 months from August 2025. We are looking for a proactive and creative individual to support the delivery of our communication and engagement activities to embed sustainability across the University, support behaviour change and raise awareness across the community.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a large institution at an exciting time of change. You will be part of a team that is leading the way in sustainability initiatives across the Higher Education sector. You will gain experience in developing effective communications, engagement and behaviour change campaigns to embed sustainability into a complex institution. You will also develop vital employability and transferrable skills, essential for your future career.

You will have experience in delivering engaging communications across a variety of platforms, a passion and enthusiasm for sustainability, and an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
