About Lockington Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School:

We are extremely proud of our modern and well-equipped building, which opened in 2002. The attractive grounds have been developed to provide learning opportunities as well as creative play, including a wildlife area, outside stage and classroom, storytelling area and a special area for quiet reflection.

The school plays an important role in the community, with a range of clubs including breakfast and after- school club, residential visits and sporting links; the children are offered many opportunities to broaden their horizons, grow in confidence and learn new skills.

Parents/carers and governors play an active part in school life, as do the Friends of Lockington School, who work hard to organise fundraising events and provide generous support for visits, visitors and other ventures.

Our Christian ethos permeates every layer of school life. It is the basis upon which we educate the whole child and ensure both spiritual development and academic progress. We have a broad and balanced programme for collective worship, which incorporates special times and events within the year. Children are given time for reflection and are encouraged to see the joy and wonder of the world.

As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled School, the implementation of Christian values in the everyday life of the school is reflected in relationships, policies and our decision-making processes. Our daily collective worship strengthens the Christian identity of our school and reaffirms our vision and core values of compassion, creativity and perseverance.

You are warmly invited to visit and we hope you will find that we are, clearly, the “little school that makes a big difference’.
