The Department

Developer Engineering is a function of the CTO organisation. Our mission is to make it easy and enjoyable for software engineering teams to go from a business idea to delivering an innovative product solution. The main goals are to improve and upgrade our tools, streamline our processes, automate and strengthen our controls, and help development teams adopt modern working methods.

The Team

The Codified Controls team within Developer Engineering is revolutionizing how we manage policies, standards, and controls through a company-wide "everything-as-code" initiative. This greenfield program offers a unique opportunity to significantly reduce process friction, errors, and manual effort. We build and deliver automated controls, developing both the core technology and supporting infrastructure. As a product-focused team, we prioritize user needs and iterative development through close collaboration. We seek engineers with proven experience in product-oriented environments and a demonstrated ability to empathize with users.

The Opportunity

Software Engineers are critical to building the products and services we need to deliver on our Codified Controls vision. Joining us a Senior Software Engineer you will have the opportunity to build a high-profile product, work closely with a talented group of peers and have the room to build and improve your own skillset. We believe that our Engineers should be a part of all steps of our product from idea to execution and you will be a key part along every step of that journey. You will also work with Generative AI technologies, such as GPT-4 or Gemini, embedding their capabilities through prompt engineering in our systems.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and test software applicationsWork closely with other team members to ensure that the software is developed and delivered on time and within budgetSet the standards for what good looks like; High quality software and great user experiencesStay up to date on the latest software development trends and technologiesEnsure our software platforms are compliant with Citi's security and Software Development Life Cycle processesWork with a wide variety of teams across the organisation and help drive them towards an everything-as-code and a codified controls mind-setSupport and drive cultural change, instigating critical thinking about controls and processes and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement

Experience:

Proven experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer in product teamsStrong Experience delivering Go, Python and React code to productionExperience working in an agile software development environmentProven experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, container-based micro-services, distributed logs, SQL and NoSQL databases, and DevSecOps

This role will report to the Engineering Lead.
