The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for growing one of our key categories within Currys Business – the B2B arm of the UK’s largest tech retailer. In this pivotal role, you’ll own the end-to-end commercial strategy and delivery across a portfolio of products and brands, serving clients in sectors like education, housing, corporate, healthcare, and the public sector. Working alongside the core category squads to ensure we have the retail fundamentals in place – price, range and availability for our target customers. As a senior leader in our commercial team, you’ll set category direction, build supplier strategies, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable revenue and profit growth. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and is motivated by turning insight into action.
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
The ranging, pricing and availability strategy for products within their category targeted at B2B customers. Identifying key growth areas and product technology trends that are suitable for promotion to B2B customers to help maximise overall and vertical specific sales. Work with our suppliers (leveraging the broader relationship held by Currys to maximise our strategic alignment to deliver our growth goals with small and medium business customers. Ensuring Joint Business Plans are in place to unlock growth. Maximising end to end margin performance by improving basket spend by defining the right pricing, bundling and proposition strategy Improving commercial structures across our key supplier and distribution partners. Ensuring that B2B achieves its correct share of central funding as well as bespoke funding for B2B. Embedding the B2B Category plans within the core category strategy and promotional planning processes, ensuring category squads share objectives to improve the offer for B2B customers, maximising available growth opportunities. Working with the GTM team to ensure there is a strong category marketing activity plan in place to support key promotional periods, product launches and supplier specific activity. Supporting Channel teams with large deal requests, agreeing a clear ruleset for discount and stock availability with category squads and merchandising teams, and an expedient SLA for dealing with the largest order requests. Leading cross functional commercial initiatives such as Sold With or Best for Business. Work closely with the Head of Services & Credit for B2B to define the right overall bundling and proposition strategy for each of our target verticals, maximising likely conversion, and owning the E2E margin delivery. Use data and insight to drive category decisions and anticipate future trends.Partner with BI and Finance to monitor key commercial indicators, flagging risks and opportunities. Support and enable the sales teams by providing them with category insight, pitch material and commercial tools and briefings.Line management responsibility for an Assistant Commercial Manager.
You will need:
Strong experience in senior commercial roles Experience in developing new customer led propositions Experience of strategic business planning with large suppliers Experience of working in a matrix organisational structure (where strong degrees of collaborative working are required)
