We’re looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking commis chef to join the University of Bath’s kitchen team! Based in Pitstop Café during term time, you’ll prepare and cook all-day breakfast, pasties, jackets, and crepes in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. You’ll work alongside an experienced front-of-house team, ensuring smooth service while maintaining top standards of cleanliness and health and safety.
Term-time shifts are mainly 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, five days a week (36.5 hours). In the summer, you’ll support the main kitchen with summer schools and conference packages, covering mornings, evenings, and weekends. Training and uniforms are provided, and there are excellent opportunities for development and promotion.
You’re passionate about cooking and have experience as a junior chef. An NVQ in Food Preparation is a bonus. You thrive in a busy kitchen, stay positive under pressure, and work well as part of a team. You’re flexible, reliable, and ready to contribute to a dynamic kitchen environment where your skills will grow and your efforts are valued.
This role is offered on a full time basis, working 36.5 hours per week.
