Job Description Component Definition Group - Group Leader Full Time Derby, Raynesway An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Component Definition Group (CDG) Group Leader to join Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Component Definition Group Leader to lead our team of Component Definition Engineers throughout the product definition lifecycle. This critical role involves driving excellence in management practices, prioritising activities, and fostering continuous improvement and transformational change. Reporting to the CDG and Configuration Management - Engineering Manager, the Group Leader will ensure the team meets key programme milestones and collaborates effectively with internal and external stakeholders across the submarines enterprise. What you will be doing: With this exciting opportunity your main responsibilities will include: Provide technical guidance to the team and ensure adherence to engineering policies throughout the product definition lifecycle. Manage a team project plan including communicating with internal and external stakeholders to capture new requirements and demands, re-prioritising when required. Create an environment that enables continuous improvement and transformation to enhance efficiency and performance through the automation, using executive tools and ensuring compliance with engineering and quality standards. Lead the commitment, acceptance, and prioritisation of workload and allocate the resources effectively within the group. Manage and utilise the labour enterprise. Manage and support the capability development and professional growth of team members. Also support to the wellbeing and safety, absence, and performance management of engineers within the group. Deputise for the CDG & CM Engineering Manager at a variety of internal and external meetings. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: Understanding of Siemens NX, AutoCAD and Teamcenter is essential. Experience with British Standard and/or ASME Y14.5M drawing standard would be an advantage. Good understanding and familiarity with product definitions, GD&T and DARs is highly desirable. Proven experience and skillset in project management with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines Strong communication skills, externally and internally, with the ability to communicate up to a senior level in concise definitive terms. Demonstrate good experience of working & delivering in cross functional teams. Engineering and technical competence, sufficient to balance attention to detail with a pragmatic approach to delivery, ensuring safety of the product is always maintained. Be qualified in an engineering discipline Previous Section Lead experience is an advantage; however, those looking for their first leadership role with the right skills are also encouraged to apply, as support and training will be provided.
