At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Senior EC&I Engineer at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site. The role As a Control and Automation Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you will be key in providing professional technical assistance and advice to support ongoing operational availability and maintenance at Devonport Royal Dockyard. Day to day, you’ll be supporting the development of new designs and facility modifications. This will involve a variety of engineering equipment within the facility with an emphasis on mechanical / fuel handling assets:

Maintaining the content and configuration of the reference design documentation of extant assets through-life. Management of the design development through the whole design lifecycle (requirements development, drawings, calculations, specifications and reports) for both new and modified equipment. Specifying replacement equipment/components and supporting the production of configuration documentation for permanent modifications. Supporting the implementation of new designs (factory acceptance testing, supporting commissioning activities). Supporting asset conditions surveys and producing condition reports / fault-finding on existing assets.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Control and Automation Engineer:

Producing a range of engineering documentation; reports, specifications, calculations. Experience of cranes/lifting equipment and crane operations or knowledge and experience of other electro-mechanical/hydraulic systems (desirable)

Qualifications for the Control and Automation Engineer:

Qualified to degree level in an electrical engineering discipline.

Security Clearance The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
