Job Opportunity: Customer Delivery Driver at Waitrose & Partners

Are you a customer-focused individual with a passion for delivering quality and excellent service? Waitrose & Partners is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team as Customer Delivery Drivers in Godalming. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of the UK's largest employee-owned business, contributing directly to the customer experience and the smooth operation of a vibrant retail environment.

About the Role:

As a Customer Delivery Driver, you will be the face of Waitrose & Partners, delivering their renowned quality produce and exceptional Partner-led service directly to customers' homes. This role embodies the Waitrose ethos of "passionate Partners serving food lovers." Beyond your delivery duties, you will also play a crucial role in supporting the in-store team, assisting with vital tasks such as stock replenishment and maintaining housekeeping standards. This is a part-time position, offering 15 hours per week on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Advantages for Candidates:

  • Be a Brand Ambassador: You'll be directly representing the esteemed Waitrose brand, building trust and rapport with customers through exceptional service.
  • Ownership and Rewards: As part of the John Lewis Partnership, you'll be a Partner and co-owner, sharing in the company's success and rewards. This unique ownership model fosters a strong sense of belonging and collective responsibility.
  • Career Growth and Development: While this role focuses on delivery and in-store support, being part of the Partnership offers opportunities for personal and collective growth. The emphasis on kindness, respect, and thriving environments encourages individual development.
  • Work-Life Balance: The Partnership is committed to supporting a good work-life balance, with potential for flexible working arrangements to be discussed during the interview process.
  • Competitive Pay and Incentives: Earn a competitive hourly rate of £13.39. Additionally, for those joining from October 5th and enrolled in Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements, there is a Night Premium of £3.50 per hour for all hours worked between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
  • Supportive Team Environment: You'll be joining a friendly and welcoming team, contributing to the efficient and productive running of the shop.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

  • Essential Driving Skills: A full, valid UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points is a fundamental requirement.
  • Customer Service Excellence: This role demands outstanding customer service skills. The ability to build trust and provide a personal touch will be key to your success.
  • Time Management and Adaptability: Efficient route planning and the ability to adapt to the dynamic nature of deliveries are crucial. You'll need to be self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
  • Physical Demands: Be prepared for the physical requirements of the role, including lifting crates and moving cages.
  • Technical Proficiency: Basic IT literacy is necessary for managing delivery routes and potentially other operational tasks.
  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be 18 years or older due to the nature of the role.
  • Pre-Employment Vetting: Be aware that some roles within the Partnership are subject to pre-employment vetting, which may include DBS checks. You will be informed of any requirements during the recruitment process.

Desirable Experience:

While not essential, previous experience in a driving role and familiarity with chilled vehicles would be advantageous and welcomed.

This Customer Delivery Driver position at Waitrose & Partners in Godalming is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to contribute to a respected brand, enjoy the benefits of employee ownership, and develop their skills in a supportive and engaging work environment. If you are passionate about service and ready to embrace the responsibilities and rewards of being a Partner, we encourage you to apply.
