ABOUT THE ROLE As a Data Steward in the Data Management Profession you will work closely with areas of the business to drive data centric thinking & decision making through education & relationship building with key data owners, stakeholders & teams from across the business. Will act as the key point of contact for data quality incidents coordinating resolutions where appropriate. Aligning activities to the domains key priorities & the overall data governance strategy. Leading the documentation of business assets in their area, gaining approval where necessary. Supports the business & key stakeholders in risk identification, management & resolution. Contract type: This is a secondment till April 2026 Salary: The expected salary for this role is upto £60000 Key responsibilities Data Centric Thinking Aligns activities within the domain to overall Data Governance roadmap Support the Data Maturity Assessment process Collaborate with the business to support creation of relevant metadata in the Partnership metadata repository, providing ongoing management and co-ordinating business approval Verify and approve that the correct data classification have been applied to data sets Manages the content and gains approval for the Business Assets in their Data Domain in metadata repository. Drives adherence to, and being a subject matter expert on the Partnership Data Management Policy and Standards and for Domain Standards; undertake periodic Policy and Standards Assurance Stakeholder Management Develop and maintain effective relationships with peers, stakeholders and the wider business to ensure engagement, support and delivery of key responsibilities. Responsible for coordinating and running regular and effective Data Governance working groups at a domain level. Manage key Data Governance communication vehicles & support the delivery of key and consistent Data Governance messaging for all stakeholders. Supports the DG lead and DGMs in the creation of outcome led agendas for meetings relating to the Data Governance Forum and Partnership Data Group and where appropriate record the meetings minutes and actions. Support the Data Owner by maintaining and supporting with materials required for them to carry out their responsibilities Data Quality Work across the Data Management Profession to ensure data quality standards are adhered to and work directly with the business to address any issues, including in projects and change initiatives . Co-ordinate the prioritisation of proactive data quality profiling activity within the domain Co-ordinate the identification, recording, analysis and remediation of data quality issues and overall sustainability of data quality Process & Reporting Identification and documentation of key processes that impact data in their Data Domain. Drives the development and continuous improvement of the data governance operating model Monitor performance against Data Governance KPIs in Tableau; create recommendations for remediation and actively celebrate successes. Ensure that all required reporting and inputs for governance groups is prepared and agreed with stakeholders. Risk, Issues & Controls Management Supports the business & key stakeholders in identification, management & resolution of data risks (inc personal data) Work within a data domain as a point of contact for the business on data issues and data risk management Promotes data risk awareness, including GDPR, within their subject area Skills Risk, Issues & Control Management Skills in identifying, articulating and mitigating risks and developing controls for ongoing management of risks Stakeholder Management Uses stakeholder management to develop trusted relationships with stakeholders and Data Owners. Data-centric thinking Understands data, legislation related to it and how it is utilised in the business. Investigative skills Questioning nature which enables you to explore and understand challenges and issues against a big picture view of the Partnership Attention to detail Drives quality through attention to detail and being able to consume complex information. Essential skills/experience you’ll need - Understanding of data protection and information security legislation and how this relates to the business strategy. - Experience in complex and / or large data projects as a data SME - A good understanding of data quality approaches - Driving data quality improvements with Business teams - Stakeholder management Desirable skills/experience you may have - Retail, Finance or Financial Services experience - Membership of Data Management groups / communities - Data Management qualification - GDPR Practitioner level or equivalent - Business analysis or project management experience - Knowledge of Data Management technologies and tools - Expertise in data quality practices, approaches and challenges within large organisations .
