We are looking for a Deputy Engineering Manager to become part of our management team. You’ll be assisting the Engineering Manager to support a team of 35 engineers, cleaners, paint shop technicians and support staff who maintain and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles as well as managing plant and buildings. You’ll be supporting a team of professionals who are pretty nifty with a spanner, a mop and a paint brush – all of which are equally as important. Let face it, none of our customers want a dirty bus that works, or a clean and smart one that doesn’t! You’ll love supporting, advising and managing the team on a daily basis to maintain and repair our vehicles which include Scania, Volvo, Alexander Dennis and Optare. It a really important role within our depot, so we’ll trust you to ensure vehicles are presented to the high standards that our customers want. So this means supporting the Engineering Manager to ensure the health & safety of our team, the quality and efficiency of daily workload, provide training and much more …so variety will be aplenty! It not a desk based role as you’ll be out in the garage supporting the team however as part of the management team you’ll be involved in quality assurance and work scheduling. Of course, there are a couple of things we need in our prospective Deputy Engineering Managers… You don’t have to come from a bus background (but we wouldn’t be put off if you did either!), but you will need to have worked in a related field – such as the truck / light commercial / rail industries in an engineering setting and have a passion for working with an exceptional team of engineers. You’ll generally be working Monday to Friday with weekends on a rota basis and supporting our team across all shifts will be required.
