Disability Adviser

Job at University of Worcester in Worcester, Worcestershire, WR2

We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Disability Adviser to join our Student Services department at the University of Worcester.

The successful candidate will be part of the Disability and Dyslexia Service which aims to ensure that no student is disadvantaged in their studies by a disability. The post holder will be part of a team of Advisers co-ordinating the support needs of disabled applicants and students, as well as promoting the rights of disabled students and an institution-wide approach to embedding good practice in relation to disability and inclusion. The team works with students from their first point of enquiry (such as at Open Days) through the application and pre-entry process, and then throughout their period of study as required.

The University has a long tradition of inclusivity, and developments such as the Worcester Arena, and improvements to make our campuses fully accessible, have further increased the diversity of our student population. Disability Advisers provide specialist advice, support and guidance to students with a wide range of disabilities. While Advisers tend to focus on one or more aspects of disability, responsibility is shared across the team, and flexibility is required to manage fluctuations in requirements for each annual intake, as well as in the workload across the academic year.

We’re looking for someone who is excited about enabling our students to fulfil their potential through a range of support services in our inclusive and community focused environment. You will need to be professional and passionate about making a difference to the individuals you support and able to work collaboratively with staff across the university.

What's in it for you?

Annual incremental increase up to £37,694, with the opportunity to progress to £41,064 subject to performance and the university reward scheme Up to 36 days of leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays and University closure days) rising to 41 total days after 5 years’ continuous service Access to a range of benefits including our Staff Retail Benefits Scheme Wellbeing advice and support through our Employee Assistance Programme In-house training and development support A friendly, inclusive and supportive culture and work environment

For any informal queries about this vacancy please contact either Clare-Marie Nield (Assistant Director of Student Life) at [email protected] or Clare Dawson (Director of Student Services) at [email protected]

Please note that if not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through our subsidiary company Uniworc Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of University of Worcester. Appointees of Uniworc Limited will automatically be enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and other eligibility criteria).

Please note that this post does not meet the minimum salary requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. We are therefore unable to consider applicants for this post who will require sponsorship to work in the UK.
