We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Disability Adviser to join our Student Services department at the University of Worcester.
The successful candidate will be part of the Disability and Dyslexia Service which aims to ensure that no student is disadvantaged in their studies by a disability. The post holder will be part of a team of Advisers co-ordinating the support needs of disabled applicants and students, as well as promoting the rights of disabled students and an institution-wide approach to embedding good practice in relation to disability and inclusion. The team works with students from their first point of enquiry (such as at Open Days) through the application and pre-entry process, and then throughout their period of study as required.
The University has a long tradition of inclusivity, and developments such as the Worcester Arena, and improvements to make our campuses fully accessible, have further increased the diversity of our student population. Disability Advisers provide specialist advice, support and guidance to students with a wide range of disabilities. While Advisers tend to focus on one or more aspects of disability, responsibility is shared across the team, and flexibility is required to manage fluctuations in requirements for each annual intake, as well as in the workload across the academic year.
We’re looking for someone who is excited about enabling our students to fulfil their potential through a range of support services in our inclusive and community focused environment. You will need to be professional and passionate about making a difference to the individuals you support and able to work collaboratively with staff across the university.
