Job at University of Surrey in Guildford, Surrey, GU2

Join the University’s largest Faculty and take a pivotal role in creating safe, inspiring, and high-performing environments for teaching, research, and cultural events.

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences (FABSS) is home to over 700 staff and more than 7,000 students across three schools (Surrey Business School, School of Arts, Humanities and Creative Industries, and School of Social Sciences) distributed across eleven buildings on the University’s Stag Hill campus. It is a vibrant, multicultural community delivering research and student events year-round, including renowned Guildford School of Acting productions and Music and Media concerts.

The opportunity

Your key focus will be to ensure that all spaces are safe and suitable for the activities that take place throughout the year, including teaching, research, performances, academic conferences, Open Days and Applicant Days. This means that your work will directly influence student experience, recruitment, and staff wellbeing.

You’ll combine day-to-day operational excellence with forward planning, ensuring our spaces are safe, compliant, welcoming, and resilient, ready for the demands of a busy academic calendar. What you’ll lead and deliver

About you

You are organised, agile, and thrive in a busy university environment with shifting priorities. A confident communicator, you take initiative and build strong working relationships with Estates, technical teams, academic disciplines, and frontline services. You bring a customer service mindset, understand the needs of colleagues, students, and visitors, and have a keen eye for detail that ensures our buildings consistently meet high expectations.

What we offer

We offer generous annual leave, excellent development opportunities, a pension scheme, Employee Assistance Programme, and discounted membership to Surrey Sports Park, in addition to an on-site nursery. We operate a blended working policy that, within operational limits, allows staff to work from home up to two days per week, with some flexibility around start and finish times.

Beyond competitive benefits, you will join a team that values innovation and continuous improvement. You will have opportunities to contribute to sustainability projects, space planning initiatives, and strategic developments that shape the future of our campus.
