About the role The Finance Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of actuals, budgets, and reforecasts for Corporate overhead costs (excluding Technology). This role involves close collaboration with ELT members and includes participation in ad hoc projects to support the Finance Lead. Responsibilities Prepare accurate financial reports in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards and ensure timely compliance-related submissions. Perform reconciliations of the balance sheet and support audit processes by providing the necessary documentation. Analyze actual expenses versus forecasted figures for overheads and maintain current records of full-time equivalent employee reconciliations. Identify financial trends and deliver insights to business leaders through variance analysis and detailed reporting. Collaborate with department heads on budgeting, performance tracking, and proactive resolution of financial issues. Build strong relationships with stakeholders—particularly with the RELX group—and critically assess digital expenditures to drive efficiency. Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive financial data, ensuring it is shared only with authorized individuals. Requirements Demonstrates strong technical accounting proficiency with current knowledge of regulatory developments, or is actively pursuing an accountancy qualification. Proven ability to challenge budget inputs and deliver insightful financial analysis to business leaders Excellent communication skills, effective with senior stakeholders, team members, and external auditors Skilled at partnering with business teams to interpret financial implications of projects Highly organised and deadline-driven, with a proactive and positive approach Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with general accounting software and ERP systems Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively Educational background including GCSEs in English and Maths, A-Levels (or equivalent), and a BA degree or AAT qualification Work in a way that works for you We promote a healthy work/life balance across the organisation.
