Here at Associated British Ports, we are currently recruiting for a Finance Manager within ABP’s Finance Shared Services (FSS) team in Port Business Services (PBS).
The role of the Finance Manager is to lead, manage and support activity to produce all management accounting related activities for the business (e.g. P&L, Balance sheet, CAPEX, recs etc). You will be responsible for managing a team of accounting professionals, driving engagement, delivering processes excellence and strong stakeholder management. cost effective operation and high performance of the accounting processes
A key focus for this role is to ensure the production of timely, relevant and accurate monthly reporting, financial information, statutory accounting, strong controls, process standardisation and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will be an experienced qualified accountant with the objective of leading a team of at least 5 or more team members, providing accurate, timely, relevant and reliable financial information, variance analysis, commentary etc to internal customers and stakeholders to enable critical forward looking business decisions to be taken. Customer focused with strong communication skills working with the regional Heads of Finance and Finance Business Partners.
This is a hybrid role based at our office in Hull. There will be the occasional requirement to travel to other ports across the UK.

Essential:
Degree level qualification Qualified accountant with experience of leading, motivation and managing a team Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to drive and lead change initiatives Skills in planning and organising, decision making, negotiation and time management Analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to forge strong working relationships with a diverse set of colleagues 5+ years’ accounting experience, at least 2 years in a senior accounting management role and relevant exposure to the management and statutory reporting functions Good understanding of SAP or an equivalent Financial Application package Good understanding of respective end to end Finance processes Detailed understanding of accounting (processes and GAAP) Experience of crafting and implementing process improvements and leading departmental change Experience of working in a service culture environment This job holder needs to deliver against ABP’s values-based competency model
