The University of Worcester’s Riverside Fitness Suite delivers a range of services to students, staff and community members, within a well-equipped fitness suite.  The Centre is open 7 days a week and provides a range of specialist wellbeing and exercise programmes for all. Fitness Instructors are required to provide supervision and to facilitate specific exercise programmes for members accessing the fitness suite. 

The role of the fitness assistants includes: taking responsibility for the health and safety of members using the fitness suite; providing basic instruction and support to participants during exercise sessions; supporting the development of positive relationships with participants of all abilities and provide motivation and guidance to achieve their goals. This post will provide opportunities to gain applied knowledge and skills of leisure and gym industry, and experience of working with a wide variety of community members, some with long term health conditions. 

Duties include; inducting members into the gym as required, supported by senior instructors create bespoke fitness programmes (learn to use Teambuildr App), delivering group exercise sessions, preparing for academic and community sessions, tour perspective members in a professional manner, complete membership sales and work towards income targets. As a member of the fitness staff team you’ll maintain and clean gym equipment to create a gym environment of an excellent standard throughout, deal with enquiries from all clients and offer support and ensure a good standard of health and safety operational practice is maintained. 

Hours of work:

Working as a member of a team of staff working on a shift rota covering the 7.00am – 10.00pm Monday to Friday; 8.00am to 4.00pm on weekends.
