What the Role Entails:

As a General Machinist, you will play a crucial role within a dedicated team operating across three shifts. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Static and Dynamic Balancing: Performing static and dynamic balancing on a diverse range of engine products, utilizing simulated rotor tooling on both vertical and horizontal balancing machines.
  • Technical Adherence: Meticulously following Rolls-Royce Technical Instructions and program manuals to ensure consistent, high-quality machining across various components and product families.
  • Inspection Expertise: Operating a variety of inspection equipment, including machine probing, micrometers, and plug gauges, to ensure precision and quality.
  • Drawing Interpretation: Comprehending manufacturing drawings, customer specifications, and written requirements to guide machining processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Assessing the quality of produced components against stringent required standards and actively participating in resolving quality issues within the team.
  • Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively within a small team to achieve production plans and contribute to effective problem-solving.

Important Considerations for Your Application:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • Educational Foundation: A completed advanced modern engineering apprenticeship and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 qualification or equivalent. Proof of apprenticeship completion is required.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in 5-axis milling, turning, drilling, and boring is essential. Siemens control system experience is highly preferred. Previous experience with aerospace components would be a significant advantage.
  • Inspection Proficiency: A clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional, and visual inspection techniques.
  • Personal Attributes: You should be an active, patient, and self-motivated individual with excellent time management skills. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team is crucial, along with a commitment to meeting delivery commitments.
