You will be at the forefront of managing and enhancing the Investment Bank's financial crime program, acting as a crucial nexus for stakeholders across the first, second, and third lines of defence. Your expertise will be vital in overseeing financial crime risk management across Banking, Markets, and the International Corporate Bank.

This position presents a unique opportunity to act as a delegate for the Head of Investment Banking Financial Crime Advisory, which includes representing the function in senior leadership forums and spearheading strategic initiatives. You will be instrumental in advising senior management, business heads, and control partners on critical areas such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC). A core objective will be ensuring the bank not only meets stringent regulatory expectations and internal standards but also facilitates sustainable business growth.

  • Global Reach: The emphasis on driving global consistency in financial crime strategy offers the chance to shape and implement harmonized approaches across a significant financial institution.
  • Leadership Development: Whether leading a team or acting as a key individual contributor, you will be encouraged to develop leadership capabilities, mentor specialists, and influence strategic direction, aligning with Barclays' LEAD behaviours (Listen and be authentic, Energise and inspire, Align across the enterprise, Develop others).
  • Career Growth: This position is ideal for those seeking to advance their careers in financial crime advisory within a globally recognized investment bank. The experience gained will be highly sought after.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

  • Deep Subject Matter Expertise: A strong foundation in financial crime regulations and practices is essential. Candidates must possess demonstrable experience in AML, CTF, Sanctions, and ABC.
  • High-Risk Client and Transaction Experience: The ability to advise on high-risk clients, complex transactions, and new product approvals, including Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and reputational risk assessments, is crucial.
  • Strategic Acumen: Beyond technical expertise, the role requires proven strategic leadership skills, the ability to define and execute overarching strategies, and a capacity to influence decision-making at all levels.
  • Change and Transformation: You will be expected to contribute to and drive change initiatives within the financial crime framework, demonstrating adaptability and a forward-thinking approach.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Success in this role hinges on the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams, including Compliance, Legal, and business units, to ensure a cohesive approach to financial crime risk management.
