We are seeking an Interim Deputy HR Director to provide strategic leadership, vision and direction for our HR function. As a key member of the HR Senior Team, you will play a pivotal role in setting the strategic path for HR, driving transformational change, ensuring the successful delivery of the HR Operational Delivery Plan (HR ODP) in alignment with the University’s People & Culture Strategic Delivery Plan (P&C SDP).
As a senior HR leader, you will support the Director of Human Resources while leading and supporting HR Associate Directors in developing and implementing the HR ODP. You will drive innovation in HR strategy, promote best practices, and oversee major HR programmes to ensure alignment across the function. Your leadership will be instrumental in managing resource distribution and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to embed customer-focused HR services across faculties and departments.
You will drive excellence and foster a positive workplace culture, encouraging teams to focus on the customer experience and taking pride in their work. Your interpersonal skills, along with your ability to negotiate, influence and motivate others, will be essential in promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. You can demonstrate the ability to analyse complex situations and challenge ambiguity where necessary to generate concise evaluations and opinions.
As an experienced collaborator, you will continue to grow relationships at all levels across the university and beyond, especially within the senior management team, to drive ownership of change initiatives and ensure HR contributes effectively to the university’s objectives. As an engaging communicator, you will be confident in establishing effective working relationships and communicating in a range of formal and informal settings.
You have experience operating at scale in a complex, multi-cultural environment and operating as a manager and member of the leadership team. You have experience delivering projects and supporting organisational change.
This role is offered on a full-time (36.25 hour), fixed term or secondment basis for 6 months. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
