The Role
This is an exciting time to join SSEN Transmission. With a pipeline of high profile Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) projects set to transform the energy landscape in the coming years, we are looking for Land Managers and Senior Land Managers to help secure the land rights needed for these vital developments. From 400kV overhead lines and underground cables to substations, your work will play a crucial role in delivering the UK governments 2030 net zero targets. This role is similar to that of a land agent, where you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams from the early design stages through to construction. You will engage with a variety of stakeholders to ensure land and property rights are secured and managed effectively, balancing the needs of landowners and project objectives.
You will
Work to obtain and maintain robust land and property rights for projects across SSEN Transmissions network area, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Apply Land Assembly Strategy to deliver project programmes for Large Capital Projects across Base Capex, Customer Connections and Strategic Wider Works portfolios as well as managing risk to future Network security. Develop strong working relationships with landowners, tenants, agents, local authorities, and key industry bodies such as the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit and Forestry and Land Scotland to facilitate project success. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Electricity Act 1989, Land Compensation Act 1973, and Compulsory Purchase Act 1965, while advising on best practices in land acquisition, valuation, and compensation. Senior Land Managers will provide senior support across a designated region of SSEN Transmissions network area. You will be tasked with securing, maintaining, and managing robust land and property rights over a challenging portfolio of projects. Strong understanding of landownership systems in Scotland and practical knowledge of relevant land management matters. Knowledge of land and property rights, including good knowledge of wayleaves, servitudes and land acquisition. Good understanding of the relevant sections of the Electricity Act 1989, the Land Compensation Act 1973 and the Compulsory Purchase Act 1965. Solid grasp of energy networks and their structure and governance. Membership of Rural Professional Group of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, or alternatively aspirations to work towards these.About SSE
