Asset Systems Lead Analyst: A Career Opportunity in Shaping the Future of Energy

Are you an experienced professional with a passion for data, systems, and driving positive change? SSEN Distribution, a vital part of the SSE Group, is seeking an Asset Systems Lead Analyst to join their dynamic team. This is a significant opportunity to influence the management and governance of asset information systems that power millions of UK homes and businesses, playing a crucial role in the transition to a net-zero energy network.

The Opportunity in Detail

This role offers the chance to be at the forefront of innovation in asset information management. As an Asset Systems Lead Analyst, you will:

  • Lead System Evolution: Spearhead the management, development, and enhancement of asset information systems and the Common Network Asset Indices Methodology (CNAIM) framework.
  • Be a Key Representative: Serve as the primary point of contact for system configuration, model calibration, and process flows, representing SSEN Distribution with industry groups and Ofgem, the electricity network regulator.
  • Drive Performance & Incentives: Identify and capitalize on opportunities within regulatory performance incentives (NARM, IIS) to exceed performance targets and maximize financial returns.
  • Manage and Deliver Projects: Drive the delivery of system and process enhancements, leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing projects from their inception through to successful implementation.
  • Champion Data Governance: Own and continuously improve asset data governance, quality, and stewardship, ensuring systems and data meet both regulatory and business requirements.
  • Mentor and Develop Talent: Play a key role in mentoring and developing junior analysts, fostering standardized approaches and building team expertise.

What Makes This Role Appealing to Candidates?

For ambitious professionals, this position presents several compelling advantages:

  • Impactful Work: Contribute directly to the modernization of a critical national infrastructure, supporting the UK's net-zero ambitions.
  • Career Growth & Development: The role offers significant opportunities for leadership, project management, and technical skill development. You'll be actively involved in shaping strategy and mentoring others, accelerating your career progression.
  • Competitive Remuneration and Benefits: With a salary range of £50,100 - £75,100, this role is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your finances, wellbeing, and family. This includes discounts on private healthcare, gym memberships, a free online GP, 24/7 counselling, interest-free loans for tech and transport, and generous family entitlements.
  • Flexible Working: SSEN Distribution champions a "Flexible First" approach, offering options that can accommodate a healthy work-life balance.
  • Strategic Influence: You will have a voice in key industry discussions and direct engagement with regulators, providing a platform to influence policy and best practices.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path

To thrive in this role, candidates should consider the following:

  • Technical Expertise: A strong foundation in a STEM subject is essential, coupled with substantive experience in asset management or a regulated utility environment. Deep knowledge of CNAIM and NARM frameworks, along with practical experience in asset risk models, is paramount.
  • Regulatory Acumen: Proven experience engaging with network regulators, managing regulatory periods, and maximizing performance incentive returns is a significant asset.
  • System and Data Proficiency: Hands-on experience with asset management systems (e.g., SAP, MAXIMO, ArcGIS) and data analysis tools (Power BI, SQL, Python) will be crucial for success.
  • Leadership Potential: The ability to translate business needs into technical requirements, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and manage complex projects is vital. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including with regulators and industry peers, are also key.
  • Commitment to Improvement: A proactive and collaborative approach, coupled with a genuine passion for data quality, innovation, and continuous improvement, will align well with SSEN Distribution's culture.

This role is based in Reading, Perth, Glasgow, or Inverness, offering a permanent position with flexible working options. If you are a forward-thinking professional looking to make a substantial impact in the energy sector and advance your career, this Asset Systems Lead Analyst position at SSEN Distribution is an opportunity you should seriously explore.
