Job at British Telecommunications in

Technical Network Delivery Lead - Transformational Projects

This role presents an exceptional opportunity for experienced network professionals to drive significant technological change within BT’s public sector engagements. If you are passionate about architecting and delivering cutting-edge network solutions that directly impact critical public services, this is a role where your expertise will be highly valued and actively applied.

Why This Opportunity Matters:

At its core, this position is about making a tangible difference. You will be instrumental in the technical delivery of transformational network projects for some of the UK's most important public sector accounts. This involves bridging the gap between a customer's business objectives and their network strategy, ensuring technology serves as a powerful enabler for their mission-critical operations.

What You'll Be Doing:

Your responsibilities will be diverse and impactful, focusing on the end-to-end technical delivery of network solutions. Key activities include:

  • Designing standardized and customized network solutions across a range of platforms and specific customer requirements.
  • Collaborating closely with Practice Managers and Technical Leads to ensure seamless integration and delivery of network services.
  • Engaging in pre-sales activities, planning, and implementation across a broad spectrum of ICT Infrastructure, including security, WAN optimization, and load balancing.
  • Providing expert technical consultancy to BT's public sector clients.
  • Utilizing recognized methodologies and tools to craft innovative and robust network solutions.
  • Working collaboratively with peers to resolve design and implementation challenges.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Career Growth and Impact: This role offers a clear path for career advancement within BT, with a focus on high-impact, transformational projects. You'll be at the forefront of technological innovation for crucial public services, providing a strong sense of purpose.
  • Professional Development: BT is committed to your growth, offering world-class training and development opportunities. This is an ideal environment to deepen your expertise, particularly towards achieving CCIE certification if you are at the CCNP level, or to further hone your existing CCIE-level skills.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Beyond a competitive salary and a 10% on-target bonus, you'll benefit from an excellent BT Pension scheme (with a generous company contribution), 25 days of annual leave (increasing with service), and a wide array of flexible benefits including cycle-to-work schemes and healthcare.
  • Work-Life Integration: While the role requires 3 days in the office for collaboration and team engagement, BT also acknowledges the value of flexible working. Opportunities for job sharing or reduced hours can be explored, demonstrating a commitment to supporting diverse working styles.
  • Diverse and Inclusive Environment: BT champions diversity and inclusion, fostering an environment where differences are celebrated. You'll be part of a team that makes a significant societal impact, working with colleagues from various backgrounds.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

  • Location Flexibility (with Hybrid Requirement): Preferred office locations are Leeds, Manchester, Belfast, or Birmingham. A commitment to spending 3 days per week in the office is a mandatory requirement for this role.
  • Technical Acumen: Candidates are expected to possess CCIE qualification or be at a CCNP level with a clear ambition to achieve CCIE. Expertise in Global WAN, LAN & WLAN design for both private and public sectors is crucial.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: The ability to interpret customer needs, assess comprehensive requirements, and devise both standard and non-standard solutions is a must. You should be comfortable explaining complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Design and Proposal Experience: While an advantage, experience in creating high-quality technical designs, customer-facing proposals, and detailed cost models will significantly strengthen your application.
  • Transformation and Thought Leadership: Experience in leading transition and transformation initiatives for major clients seeking cost reduction, risk mitigation, and improved customer experience is highly desirable.

If you are a driven network professional looking to make a substantial impact within a leading organization and are excited by the prospect of shaping the future of public sector networks, we encourage you to explore this opportunity further. Your skills and experience are valuable, and BT is a place where you can truly thrive.
