Key Considerations for Potential Candidates:

This is a highly senior and demanding role, best suited for an individual with extensive experience and proven leadership capabilities:

  • Extensive Experience Required: A minimum of 20 years of experience in process design safety is mandatory, covering all major sectors listed (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Food). This role demands deep practical knowledge and a broad understanding of industry-specific safety challenges.
  • Strong Technical & Leadership Acumen: Candidates must demonstrate mastery in Process Design Safety, including the ability to integrate safety principles, conduct and chair various safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, ALARP, QRA), ensure regulatory compliance, and manage risk. Equally important are strong leadership skills to motivate, develop, and manage a team.
  • Client-Facing & Project Management Skills: The role requires excellent client-facing abilities, managing expectations, budget, schedule, and change control on complex projects. You will be responsible for design acceptance and coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Key Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is essential, with a Master’s degree or other safety professional certifications (e.g., TUV) being a significant advantage. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is highly preferred.
