Join Our Inspiring Education Team in the School of Education, Sport and Health Sciences as a Lecturer in Education and Professional Studies at the University of Brighton.We offer a rich and well-established spectrum of education programmes that span the full academic journey—from undergraduate education and teacher training, to postgraduate primary and secondary teacher education, apprenticeships, a Masters programme, and PhD opportunities supported by the Brighton Doctoral College.
Our strength lies in collaboration: we work closely with a wide network of schools, colleges, early years settings, and alternative and informal education providers across the region, creating a dynamic and inclusive learning community that bridges theory and practice.
We welcome applicants with a strong background in employer-led apprenticeship programmes at the primary and/or secondary level with the ability to contribute to the teaching of education and professional studies. You will work closely with school partners and students to champion our teacher apprenticeship pathways.
To be effective in this role, you will need:
Qualified Teacher StatusProven successful experience as a Primary and / or secondary school teacher A relevant professional qualification such as Qualified Teacher Status Phase specific knowledge pertaining to primary and / or secondary practice across undergraduate and postgraduate apprenticeship programmes Expertise in education and professional studiesOur reputation for high quality education and student experience is evidenced in the most recent higher education league table positions: we are 2nd in the UK in the Guardian league table for education in 2025, our work in Initial Teacher Education was rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted in our 2024 inspection and the most recently published NSS outcomes for our undergraduate education provision are well above the sector average.
