This role will be based in the School of Earth and Environment, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner.  We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you capable of leading and managing complex landscape-scale nature recovery projects? Do you want to play a key role in scaling up nature recovery across Northern England?

The University of Leeds is working together with a diverse range of partners to deliver community-led and evidence-based nature recovery across Northern England. Existing projects include the Upper Duddon Landscape Recovery, Restoring Hardknott Forest and Nature Rich Miterdale projects in Cumbria, along with the Wild Ingleborough, Snaizeholme and Gair Wood projects in Yorkshire. Partners include the National Trust, Woodland Trust, White Rose Forest, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, WWF, Forestry England, UBoC, the University of Cumbria and Natural England. Alongside delivery of the projects, University of Leeds staff and students are actively monitoring the ecological, environmental and social impacts of restoration across these sites, with a view to informing policy and practice.

As the Nature Recovery Project Manager you will be responsible for leading the University of Leeds’ contribution and building partnerships to help deliver this range of complex projects. You will initiate and help secure funding for new landscape-scale projects across Northern England. You will lead on knowledge exchange between, and beyond, the projects to share learning and encourage best practice. You will have in-depth knowledge and experience of landscape-scale ecological restoration projects. You will have a passion for nature and an ambition to work to accelerate nature recovery in the UK. You will be a highly organised individual with project management experience and ability to work under your own initiative.

This is a full time position based in Northern England with a mix of home working and work across project sites.
