Job at University of Bath in Bath, Bath and North East Somerset, BA2

Embark on a Rewarding Career in Early Years Education: Opportunity for Passionate Practitioners

This is an exciting opportunity for dedicated and ambitious Early Years Practitioners to join a vibrant team and contribute to the exceptional running of a nursery campus. The environment is thoughtfully designed to foster child development, offering unique experiences such as woodland explorations, visits to a duck pond, and engaging activities within a dedicated sports village. Every child is recognised as an individual, with a commitment to supporting their unique needs, abilities, and interests in a safe, caring, and stimulating setting.

What You Will Do:

  • Play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality childcare and education, tailored to the developmental stage of each child.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
  • Adhere to and implement the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Maintain comprehensive children's records and conduct assessments, ensuring all nursery policies and procedures are followed.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, child-led and adult-initiated experiences and activities, both indoors and outdoors, to promote learning and development.
  • Support the Room Leader by supervising and mentoring Nursery Assistants, casual workers, students, and volunteers, acting as a positive role model.

Key Considerations for Aspiring Candidates:

  • Career Growth and Development: This role offers a fantastic platform for professional development within a supportive team. The opportunity to act as a role model and supervise others indicates a pathway for leadership and progression.
  • Enriching Environment: The unique campus setting, with its natural elements and sports facilities, provides a stimulating and diverse backdrop for early years education. This offers a chance to think creatively about learning experiences.
  • Commitment to Individualised Care: The emphasis on seeing each child as an individual and supporting their specific needs aligns with best practice in early years and provides a rewarding approach to childcare.
  • Professional Standards: A strong understanding and application of the EYFS framework are essential. The role requires diligent record-keeping and assessment, appealing to practitioners who value meticulousness and evidence-based practice.
  • Team Collaboration: Success in this role hinges on being a strong team player with excellent communication and organisational skills. The ability to observe, assess, plan, and document progress sensitively is paramount.
  • Qualifications: Candidates should possess relevant qualifications, with a minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or an equivalent qualification.
  • Flexibility: The opportunity welcomes both full-time and part-time applicants, offering flexibility for candidates seeking varied working arrangements.
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: This institution is deeply committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion, creating a welcoming environment for staff from all backgrounds and with a wide range of experiences.

What the Role Offers:

This position offers more than just a job; it presents an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking institution that values its staff. The comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Well-being Support: Access to free counselling services.
  • Health and Lifestyle: Cycle to work scheme, electric vehicle salary sacrifice, staff discounts at the Team Bath gym, and local discounts.
  • Education and Learning: Discounts on postgraduate tuition fees and language courses, and a wide array of personal and professional development opportunities, including apprenticeships and LinkedIn Learning.
  • Work-Life Balance: Generous annual leave allowance with an additional 5 discretionary days.
  • Financial Security: Generous employer contributory pension schemes.
  • Cultural Enrichment: Free entry to the Holburne Museum.
  • Relocation Assistance: Support for those needing to relocate.

This role is ideal for early years professionals looking to advance their careers in an enriching, supportive, and diverse environment, with a strong emphasis on child development and staff well-being.
