Pro-Vice Chancellor, Research & Impact

Job at University of West London in Greater London

The University of West London (UWL) is one of the UK’s leading modern universities, distinguished by its commitment to widening participation, inclusive education, and career-focused learning. With a vibrant, diverse student population and campuses located in one of the country’s most dynamic economic regions, UWL has a clear mission: to deliver transformative education and impactful research that supports a more prosperous, open and just society.

UWL is now looking to appoint a new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research & Impact) to lead the development of research and knowledge exchange across the institution. This role comes at an exciting time, as the University accelerates its ambitious Impact 2028 strategy, which places research, interdisciplinarity, and societal relevance at the heart of institutional growth and transformation.

The PVC will provide strategic leadership to deliver the University’s research objectives and ensure excellence in REF and KEF submissions. This includes building institutional research culture, leading the Graduate School, developing high-quality impact outputs, and overseeing governance and infrastructure for research activity. The postholder will also develop relationships with research funders and partners to grow UWL’s profile and income.

We are seeking an exceptional academic leader with a strong record of sustained research activity. The successful candidate will have experience leading research strategy and governance at an institutional level and be familiar with the UK higher education research landscape. Experience with REF and KEF processes is essential, as is the ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and meaningful external engagement.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon, Friday 9th May 2025.
