Join our technical team at our Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) to develop, maintain and improve current quality standards associated to paint technology.

As a Production Engineering Paint Skilled Associate, you’ll hold responsibility for achieving the highest standards associated to quality and delivery of the paint product which is set in a highly automated / robotic environment.

The role is currently based out of JLR’s Ryton, Warwickshire facilities but will be transferring to Castle Bromwich, West Midlands by the end of 2025 in support of a new paint facility.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

You’ll have the opportunity to work with new technology, automation and measuring systems and be part of a team who handle one off bespoke requests.

Whilst no two days may look the same, you can expect the following responsibilities:

Inspect and react to painted body condition, measured film thickness and appearance Repair and replace mechanical, pneumatic & fluid delivery systems as required Identify and implement opportunities for spraying program optimisation and improvement, as well as paint and solvent waste reduction saving exercises Support 3 shift working pattern plus scheduled maintenance and production overtime Support the team to deliver bespoke painted content through Oxford Road paint shop Problem solving and root cause analysis Vision system (VMT)

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

It is highly preferable to have experience with Robot Paint Programmes given the level of paint related automation and robotics in use however so long as you have the below skills / qualifications and experience we can consider you:

You will need to have completed a time served recognised indentured and certificated advanced apprenticeship, or Armed Forces equivalent, or IMI certificated Advanced Apprenticeship that is related to the Automotive industry / Automation / Engineering / Paint or Body Repair You’ll need to be computer literate to understand how to programme the robots to paint vehicles Communication and engagement skills Self-motivated with attention to detail Problem solving and root cause analysis skills (robotic and paint data analysis) Paint repair and paint application process experience
