Project Manager, Fraud Change - Barclays (Knutsford)

Barclays is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to join their dedicated Fraud Change team. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the bank's overarching mission of providing robust protection across the entire organisation. You will be an integral part of a wider fraud team, collaborating with approximately 24 colleagues to safeguard the bank's operations.

This position is based at Barclays' well-appointed Knutsford campus, providing a collaborative and modern work environment.

What This Opportunity Offers:

  • Impactful Role: Directly contribute to protecting Barclays by managing change projects that align with the organisation's strategic objectives. This isn't just about managing projects; it's about making a tangible difference in financial security.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across the entire bank, fostering relationships and driving initiatives that have a broad impact. This provides excellent exposure to various business areas and senior stakeholders.
  • Growth within Fraud Change: Be part of a specialised and critical area within Barclays. This role offers the chance to deepen your expertise in fraud prevention and management through hands-on project delivery.
  • Development & Learning: The assessment criteria highlight key critical skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology. This indicates a strong emphasis on continuous professional development and the opportunity to hone these valuable competencies.
  • Structured Environment: Barclays offers a well-defined project management framework, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, in control, and in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Key Considerations for Aspiring Candidates:

To thrive in this Project Manager role, candidates should possess a solid foundation in core project management disciplines. Essential experience includes:

  • Project Planning: The ability to construct comprehensive project plans that clearly define scope, objectives, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Risk Management: A proactive approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
  • Financial Management: Demonstrated experience in managing project budgets effectively to ensure delivery within agreed financial parameters.

While not strictly mandatory, the following skills and experience would significantly strengthen your application and indicate a strong alignment with the role's requirements:

  • Professional Certifications: PMP or Prince 2 certifications are highly valued, signalling a commitment to best practice in project management.
  • End-to-End Change Expertise: Proven experience in managing change initiatives from inception to completion, encompassing both technical and operational aspects. This holistic understanding is crucial for successful transformation.

Role Purpose & Accountabilities:

The primary purpose of this role is to expertly manage change projects that propel the organisation towards its strategic goals. This involves ensuring projects are delivered with precision, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards, all while maintaining strict regulatory compliance and internal policy adherence.

Your accountabilities will encompass:

  • Overseeing the lifecycle of change projects, ensuring timely, in-scope, and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Developing and meticulously managing project plans.
  • Maintaining clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, including senior leadership, project teams, and external partners.
  • Effectively managing and resourcing project teams to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diligent management of project budgets.
  • Producing clear and concise progress reports.
  • Proactive risk management and mitigation.
  • Facilitating change management activities to ensure successful adoption and embedding of new initiatives.

Vice President Expectations & Leadership:

Depending on the specific responsibilities of the role (which may include leadership), candidates will be expected to demonstrate a high level of strategic contribution, requirement driving, and recommendation generation. If the role involves team management, this would include defining roles, planning for future needs, performance management, and contributing to employee development. For individual contributors, the expectation is to be a subject matter expert, guiding technical direction, leading complex assignments, and mentoring less experienced colleagues. Across all levels, a strong emphasis is placed on:

  • Strategic Alignment: Contributing to or setting strategy and understanding how individual projects align with broader business goals.
  • Risk & Control Leadership: Demonstrating accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
  • Business Acumen: Possessing a comprehensive understanding of organisational functions and contributing to business objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management & Influence: Building trusting relationships and utilising influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Problem Solving: Applying sophisticated analytical thought and interpretative thinking to develop innovative solutions.

All colleagues at Barclays are expected to embody the core values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship. Furthermore, the Barclays Mindset of Empower, Challenge, and Drive will guide your day-to-day behaviours. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Project Manager to advance their career within a leading financial institution, contributing to critical security initiatives and making a significant impact.
