The Product and Process Engineering Business is looking to fill a vacancy working as Quality Assurance Surveillance Engineer in a key part of a well-supported team in a diverse environment within one of the most modern Fuel Fabrication Facilities in the World. The future for the business is extremely exciting with the opportunity to challenge themselves to provide Quality Assurance Surveillance activities for existing customers contracts and also an increasing portfolio for new orders and new customers whilst ensuring that we continue to strive for safer standards and higher quality and identify new opportunities for carrying out day to day improvement opportunities. The role also provides the opportunity to work in new markets including Reprocessed Uranium Fuel, HALEU/LEU+ fuel and other next generation fuel types. The business has a track record of developing employees into senior positions in the organisation and outside the organisation and the successful candidate would be at the forefront of Nuclear Fuels Engineering in the U.K.

Responsibilities

Conduct Surveillance on Nuclear Fuel Product to confirm it meets the requirements of a technical specification determined by our customer or internal technical team Conduct Surveillance on Nuclear Fuel Product Area’s to cover relevant checks such as documents, gauges & subjective standards, sampling, training, customer supplied products, product traceability, packing / handling / storage, inspection & test status, product release & certification, control of non-conforming product, control of product related consumables, housing keeping etc Providing advice and decisions on potential non-conforming product, Quality Reviewer for related CAP’s (Corrective Action Process), managing documentation and oversight of plant qualifications Carry out ‘in process monitoring’ and ‘statistical process control’ to ensure manufacturing parameters are maintained within a predetermined window Support the auditing of external parties and accompanying the customer surveillance engineers along with attending customer Quality Meetings Ability to communicate well with manufacturing and other departments, along with customers and their representatives Supporting our CAP to carry out corrective actions & carrying out first line quality investigations Support the maintenance of certification to ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 Assist the Quality Manager with defining, measuring, and improving Key Performance Indicators based around the 5 pillars of Safety, Quality, Cost, People and Delivery

Required Skills

Typically Engineering Degree (minimum 2:2) or equivalent experience/knowledge in relevant discipline Experience of working within manufacturing as a Quality Engineer Manufacturing quality assurance audit training and experience Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO14001 & ISO45001 Experience in a customer facing role Self-motivated & able to work to challenging timescales High standards and expectations in their approach to work Enthusiastic and flexible approach to work Positive team player who has effective oral and written communication skills A high level of attention to detail, with proven track record of delivering against targets Able to train staff in Quality Assurance Engineering duties Looks for continual improvement and justifies implementation Strong leadership skills and able to communicate and guide in various formats to all levels within the company Ability to troubleshoot and investigate analytical anomalies Has a strong questioning attitude and able to identify issues Technical ability to gain thorough understanding of the relevant plant processes Applicants must be able to work in a controlled area

Preferred Skills

Ideally knowledge and experience in quality / operations management but other candidates will be considered Strong interpersonal skills i.e., effective verbal and written communications, ability to influence teams and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders Experience of Statistical Process Control (SPC), trending & statistics evaluation Continuous Improvement experience such as Green Belt, Black Belt, Six Sigma etc.
