JOB PURPOSE The R&D Hydration Research Manager, Wellbeing Collective will play a critical role in the Nutritional Sciences and Innovation team (NS&I). They will be responsible for the successful delivery of Hydration Science & Technology projects. The R&D Hydration Research Manager will be required to provide expertise in identifying areas of scientific exploration, shaping hypothesis for exploration, and coordinating and executing experiments. Further, the role requires the ability to translate science into differentiated and meaningful business applications. Strong people and networking skills with a true passion for innovation also needed. The role reports to the Associate Director, Nutritional Sciences and Innovation, Wellbeing Collective and will interface with other NS&I, WBC Platform R&D, OpCo R&D, and Beauty & Wellbeing S&T team members. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead Drive the strategy and successful execution of critical programs for the Hydration Science & Technology platform Lead both scientific research initiatives and technology development projects to improve hydration and health through nutritional intake. Develop collaboration networks inside and outside of Unilever -- Beauty & Wellbeing S&T (internal) and 3rd party contract research labs and academic institutions (external). Work across The Collective and Unilever R&D to identify and develop transversal opportunities. Develops scientific positions and viewpoints relevant to the business. Identify and tracks emerging trends and scientific developments within the fields of hydration, nutrition, sports physiology, and exercise science. Support (within the broader NS&I team) Support IP strategy for early-stage pipeline activities. Help ensure alignment between WBC Hydration S&T priorities and OpCo needs Support the translation of Hydration S&T projects into OpCo launch pipelines Contribute to front end innovation activities including but not limited to ideation, workshops, prototyping and claim storming. Support claim substantiation activities as a subject matter expert as needed. ALL ABOUT YOU Demonstrated ability to generate scientific hypothesises, design and execute appropriate experiments, and translate the findings into practical applications. Ability to turn abstract or ambiguous problems into clear action. Ability to translate science into consumer relevant propositions, claims and communication. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present information in a clear and concise manner to senior management. Networking and stakeholder management Attention to detail, excellent organization and time management skills. Ability to think flexibly to meet constantly shifting priorities and timelines and to independently provide solutions to issues. Problem-solving, troubleshooting skills and ability to find creative solutions. Ability to work successfully in a âteam-basedâ environment. Ability to manage external collaborations and projects. BS in biology, physical sciences, or engineering with 10+ years in-depth experience focused on hydration at a healthcare, consumer goods, food, or pharmaceutical company or related fields. OR MS in biology, physical sciences, or engineering with a focus on hydration, physiology, kinesiology, cellular biology, nutrition sciences or related fields with relevant years of in-depth, relevant experience, OR PhD focused on hydration, physiology, kinesiology, cellular biology, nutrition sciences, or related fields with in-depth, relevant experience. Note: The role is hybrid and not remote. The current expectation is that the R&D Hydration Research Manager, Wellbeing Collective will typically be in office two (2) days a week.
