Job at University of Nottingham in Nottingham, Nottingham, NG7

Applications are invited for the above Innovate UK funded post within the Buildings, Energy and Environment (BEE) Research Group ‘Data-driven Energy Optimization Software for Supporting the Design Process Of Developing Net-zero Energy Communities (SoftwareECom)’. The project for a data-driven energy optimization software is both timely and essential. By leveraging the power of data analytics, simulation models, and optimization algorithms, such software has the potential to revolutionize the way urban communities are planned, designed, and managed. It can provide urban planners, architects, and policymakers with invaluable insights into energy consumption patterns, building performance, and renewable energy potential, enabling them to make more informed decisions and create truly sustainable urban environments.

The candidate should have the necessary research experience in building simulation and thermal modelling, low carbon buildings and building retrofit. They need to provide leadership and be able to drive the project forward.

The BEE Research Group has an international reputation for excellence across a wide range of topics including low carbon buildings, building retrofit, HVAC systems, energy storage and renewable energy. The Group has extensive research facilities including the Creative Energy Homes and state-of-the-art facilities for sustainable technologies.

Candidates must hold a degree, ideally a PhD, in an appropriate field (for example, building services engineering, mechanical engineering, civil Engineering, chemical engineering or physics). They should also have sound expertise in renewable energy, thermal modelling and experimentation in energy systems.

The post is offered on a fixed-term contract until 28 February 2025. Hours of work are part time, 20 hours per week.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Saffa Riffat – [email protected] Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
