Research Impact Officer (IAA)

Do you have experience supporting research, knowledge exchange or impact?  Are you an organised and confident individual who works well under pressure, with the ability to manage competing priorities? 

If so, this role as Research Impact Officer may be ideal.

The Research Impact Officer will provide effective and comprehensive operational support and co-ordination to facilitate the smooth management and delivery of the University of Kent’s three Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA).   

The role will provide proactive, timely administrative support and coordination for all aspects of IAA activity to ensure the efficient running of projects against key milestones and within available resource.  This includes producing and managing project delivery plans, tracking activities and reporting progress.

A key purpose of this role is working with others.  The role holder will work in close collaboration with other members of the local and central delivery teams within Research and Innovation Support,, with the IAA Academic Leads, and with officers from the Research Funding Councils.   

As a Research Impact Officer your duties will include:

To act as the key point of contact for the IAA, promoting funding opportunities to academic staff and responding timely and proactively to enquiriesAdminister open calls for funding, advising on eligibility and the suitability of the scheme and assisting with the provision of accurate costings. Processing applications through peer review and assessment panelsSupporting the administration of project awards by undertaking financial monitoring, liaising with HR on the appointment of project staff, working with the Finance directorate to contract external consultants and assisting academic staff to ensure projects are completed on time and within budgetAssist IAA leads and Senior Impact Officer in preparing surveys to capture information from IAA events, interpret data and write reports for presentation to three IAA sub-panels, and to the University IAA BoardDevelop detailed knowledge of sector developments in impact and knowledge exchange by contributing to IAA meetings, supporting the development of new and existing external partnerships to grow and foster high quality impact activityAct as Secretary to the three IAA sub-panel meetings, and to the University IAA Board.

The successful candidate will have/be:

Educated to A level or equivalent Experience of delivery support for research, knowledge exchange or impact, preferably within a HE settingExperience of setting up administrative systems and procedures for a new projectAbility to work independently and use initiative in making strategic decisionsExcellent written communication skills and an ability to produce papers and other documents for committees and external audiences, tailored to these audiences
